It’s no secret that Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s massively popular Warriors franchise makes them a lot of dosh – most especially their various spinoffs involving various other IPs from companies like Nintendo, Berserk, and more. Now, the director on their latest Warriors spinoff is eyeing up other franchises for their own Warriors games.
The news comes via an interview with Hyrule Warriors director Masaki Furusawa and Miketendo64, where the game director noted he thinks “there would be potential for the “Ys” and “Xeno” series to be adapted” into their own Warriors spinoffs. He noted, however, this is his own personal opinion – and not indicative of plans within Koei Tecmo.
Furusawa noted both the aforementioned series feature “characters having a strong impact,” and therefore would “meld well with the Warriors series.”
He was also polled on adapting Koei Tecmo’s own action RPG, Nights of Azure, however he noted this probably wouldn’t work as it’s already very action-focused – adding it could evolve into something new entirely.
