We’ve learned (via Upload VR) that the consumer model of Valve’s HTC Vive virtual reality head-mounted display will launch with a $799 price tag.
The entire package comes with the HTC Vive consumer headset, a controller for each hand, and a pair of “Lighthouse” laser base stations ot track movement in a “room-scale environment.” It will launch in “early April.”
To be clear, this is a leak prior to the expected announcement, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Also confirmed is that the Vive will ship with an internal microphone, as well as Bluetooth support (that works with a “variety of smartphones”).
For a “limited time,” the headset will come bundled with Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption.
