HTC has announced that their VR headset made in collaboration with Valve, the HTC Vive, will be getting a permanent price drop to 600$, effective immediately.
Along with this, all Vive purchases will come with a free trial for Viveport Subscription, HTC’s service that allows subscribers to experience five new VR games each month.
On the Vive’s site, HTC said that they hoped the price drop would make the VR more accessible to mainstream audiences:
Vive is the leader globally in high-end VR, and this new entry price will make the system available to an even broader audience. When customers purchase Vive, they are getting superior VR technology and the most complete ecosystem in VR.
This price cut now brings it to par with the Oculus Rift, which recently saw a temporary price cut to 400$ for the summer.
