Gearbox Software has revealed that Homeworld HD, the collection of the original Homeworld and its sequel, is going to be released as Homeworld Remastered. The publisher is now polling people to see which version of the collector’s edition they prefer.
Chris Faylor, interactive marketing manager at Gearbox Software, had this to say over on the official website:
“Previously, we’d been referring to this effort as Homeworld HD but as work progressed it became clear that title didn’t properly communicate the scope of the work. This is more than a simple re-release or up-res — given the input we’ve received from fans, mod makers and series veterans, the result is full-fledged remastering of nearly all aspects alongside the archival Classic versions.”

The two versions of the remastered collector’s edition have different replicas of an in game Mothership, however they will both feature the same contest as far as the rest of the package goes.
The first option (at $75) includes a 6 inch die cast zinc alloy Mothership replica that also comes with a brushed metal finish stand. For a whopping hundred dollars, the second option has a foot long hand decorated, molded ABS Mothership with LED lights. Sweet jesus, that sounds amazing, oh and it also comes with a USB/AC power cable.
According to Gearbox, the pricing between the two versions varies because of the time to manufacture them and the cost of the materials used. The estimated time for delivery for both physical items is tentatively set for the Fall of this year.
