Hololive terminates contract with Yozora Mel

Cover Corp, the company behind the VTubers of Hololive has announced they’re terminating their contract with Gen 1 member Yozora Mel.

According to the announcement, Mel has allegedly leaked information acquired from the company to third parties without permission. You can read the full announcement below.


Announcement Regarding Termination of Contract with Yozora Mel
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continuous support of hololive production.We regret to announce that as of January 16th, 2024, we have terminated our Virtual YouTuberMaster Agreement with Yozora Mel of hololive.
It has been confirmed that Yozora Mel has been engaging in acts that violated her contract byleaking information that she acquired from the company to third parties. As a result, we havedetermined that it has become difficult to continue managing and supporting her and, withagreement from the talent, we have elected to make this decision.
To all our fans and partners, we deeply appreciate all of the great support you have providedthroughout the activities that Yozora Mel has engaged in over a period of 5 years and 8 monthssince her debut as part of the first generation of hololive. It is with regret that we must report thismatter in spite of the longstanding activities of Yozora Mel. We sincerely apologize for theinformation we are providing at this time.
We will be closing Yozora Mel’s YouTube channel and membership by the end of February 2024.We are taking this matter very seriously, and we intend to make further efforts into instructing ouraffiliated talents on compliance matters, so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.We hope for your continued support and patronage of the talents of hololive production, as wellas our company.

While the language is harsh, the feelings between Cover Corp and Yozora Mel appear to be mutual, with the statement clarifying that the decision to part ways was made “with agreement from the talent”. This line was initially missing from the English announcement.

Yozora Mel has been a part of Hololive from very early on and has been part of the company for over five years, making her one of the longest standing members to leave the company.
