Hollow Knight singer joins cyberpunk metroidvania game Altered Alma

Altered Alma

It was only a couple days ago that Altered Alma met its funding goal on Kickstarter in just a matter of hours and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Now, after smashing past the first two stretch goals and surpassing $100,000 in funding, vocal artist Amelia Jones has announced she is officially joining the project to sing a song in a pivotal moment of the game’s narrative.

Amelia Jones is a popular singer known to many gamers primarily for singing City of Tears for Hollow Knight. To anime fans, she is known for singing Falling Through Starlight from The Rising of the Shield Hero and for providing several songs for Made in Abyss. A recent indie game she’s sung for is Slay the Princess.

“Altered Alma caught my eye straight away – I love so many things about it! A Space Opera Metroidvania RPG set in Barcelona, with beautiful art and a rich narrative – I wanted to be involved straight away,” Amelia Jones said. “When David told me there was a scene that could feature my singing, I got the feeling it might be the beginning of something very special. Thank you 2Awesome Studio for making such a brilliant game, I hope my voice reverberates throughout the neon-lit streets of Barcelona!”

There are still 28 days in which you can back Altered Alma. Now that the game has reached its funding goal and both stretch goals have been met, it will be interesting to see what new stretch goals the developers have in mind.

The game is certainly resonating with Kickstarter’s users, perhaps in part because of how rare the combination of dating sim and combat metroidvanias are (This is the first one I’ve heard of, though I’m sure they are out there somewhere) and also in part because of the cool premise of freedom-loving punk women uniting to topple a Nietzschean cult.

Altered Alma is expected to release in November of 2025 for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
