Hollow Knight: Silksong playable at Gamescom 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Indie developer Team Cherry has announced Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally be playable at this year’s Gamescom expo.

While the long-awaited metroidvania sequel will be playable at the popular European gaming trade show, it will only be playable at Microsoft’s booth, presumably only on PC and Xbox consoles.

Microsoft confirmed their entire Gamescom 2025 lineup this morning – in their robust lineup of third party game offerings was the surprise that the Hollow Knight sequel will actually be playable.

It seems Microsoft has obtained exclusive marketing/promo rights to the sequel as they also pushed it hard with their ROG Xbox Ally handheld reveal – leading to confusing it would launch alongside the handheld.

Not soon after that reveal, the development team had to clarify that the Hollow Knight sequel will not launch alongside the Xbox handheld, though it was firmed up for a definitive 2025 release.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced way back in 2019 and has been in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5.
