Despite releasing over half a year ago and already reaching massive sales numbers, Hogwarts Legacy finds itself back on the top of the UK’s retail sales chart for video games.
These new sales numbers are reported by GfK (via Games Industry), and prove the Harry Potter prequel video game still has legs.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which debuted in first on its launch week has dropped down to 5th place. While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom remains strong at 4th.
However the most impressive number is Starfield, which lands on 7th this week. While that might sound low for one of the most anticipated titles of the year, it’s important to note this is the premium edition that comes with early access as the game doesn’t officially launch until September 6th. It also costs $100.
As for why Hogwarts Legacy has made its return to the top spot well past its launch, this is likely due to the sales going on by publisher Warner Bros on multiple digital storefronts. It is currently 30% off in places such as Steam and the Epic Games Store.
It seems that the controversy surrounding the game has done little to slow its momentum. The game already managed great sales figures during its launch window, which has given it good enough word of mouth that those waiting for a sale have immediately pulled the trigger once the game saw a discount.
Hogwarts Legacy has been available across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Check out our thorough review for the game!
