Publisher Warner Bros. Games announced Hogwarts Legacy is now officially their biggest global launch ever, despite some controversy behind the game.
Since the game’s release less than two weeks ago, it has raked in over $850 million in sales and has been played for hundreds of millions of hours already. Here’s some stats:
- More than 12 million units sold and $850 million in sales globally in its first two weeks across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
- 1.28 million peak concurrent viewers on Twitch at launch
- 280 million hours played to date
- 300% higher traffic to Wizarding World Digital over normal monthly unique visitor average for the first 10 days of February
We had signs the game was crushing it in sales and playtime before despite original creator J.K. Rowling’s personal beliefs prompting some to boycott the game.
The new action RPG topped Fallout 4’s active player count on Steam before it even officially launched and hit an all-time peak of nearly 900,000 players, coming in just behind Cyberpunk 2077 as second among largest single player launches for Steam.
Hogwarts Legacy is available now across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The previous gen-ports are coming on April 4th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and on July 25th for Nintendo Switch.
