We previously reported on Square Enix looking to offload Hitman developer Io Interactive. Now, the studio has announced they’ve laid off people to secure the future of the company.

“Today at IOI, we had to make soem changes to our studio, which will allow us to be better equipped for our future adventures,” reads the statement.

“We’re sad that great talent and good friends will be leaving the studio. We are doing everything possible to look after everyone affected. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

It remains to be seen when we’ll see new content from the Hitman series, however we know it will remain the property of Io Interactive, despite Square Enix looking to part ways with the studio.
