We’ve known that Hideo Kojima has been touring around the world, visiting other game studios while probably talking up what his new PlayStation 4 and PC game is going to be like.

However, now we’ve learned (via IGN) that a recent talk at the Nordic Game 2016 festival has revealed his new game will utilize a third-party engine. His ongoing world tour is to find a suitable engine in which to build this ambitious new title.

“I actually think it’s better to make games using internal tools,” Kojima said. “As for my first title, because I want to release it to the people who are waiting for it, for that title we are going to use a third-party engine – the reason I am travelling around the world is looking for such technology to use.”

Kojima’s tour has made lots of stops at a multitude of development studios, including Quantic Dream, Crytek, and more. He also re-iterated the game’s scope quickly grew, leading him to aspire to meet everyone’s expectations:

“At the beginning I was thinking to make a small title, [but] after I met friends and acquaintances worldwide they said, ‘no everyone’s expecting you to make a big title’. So the first title coming from me will be a big title.”

Our most recent story on Kojima’s new game also confirmed the game’s scale, as well as its genre: action. The above image is from the newly reformed Kojima Productions’ mascot and logo, LUDENS.
