When Hideo Kojima revealed his newly reformed Kojima Productions studio, he also unveiled the company’s bold new mascot – Ludens.
The skeletal-faced space traveler is naturally getting lots of merchandise, ranging from cute nendoroids to the ridiculous half scale statue that you can see above.
Standing at roughly 63 inches tall and complete with an LED-powered helmet, the statue will cost you two thousand real life dollars. It’s also signed by Hideo Kojima himself.
Here’s a bunch of glamour shots of the statue, plus a description:
“I’ll keep coming.”
Prime 1 Studio & Kojima Productions are proud to present Ludens half-scale statue from Kojima Productions. Ludens, sometimes dubbed Ludence, is the Kojima Productions company icon and mascot. He wears an “extra-vehicular activity (EVA) creative suit”, and often carries a flag bearing the Kojima Productions logo which is based off Ludens himself. Ludens is prominently featured in a video titled “Kojima Productions logo movie”, where he treks into the unknown of space and plants the studio flag on uncharted lunar ground. Yoji Shinkawa was the principal designer of Ludens, having formulated the overall design and idiosyncrasies of the mascot. Ludens’ design has a high-tech feel, giving him a nostalgic ambiance. The surface of his EVA suit has “Turing pattern”-like elements that slightly rotate, inspired by the Turing machine.
You can find the Ludens statue here, via retailer Sideshow. It’s worth mentioning only 150 of these babies are being made, so choose wisely!

December 29, 2016 at 7:59 pmSure. Preorder overpriced merchandise for a game that won’t be out for years. What could possibly go wrong?

December 29, 2016 at 10:03 pmEh in this case I can understand, it’s for the kind of people that will buy something signed by a celeb for a dumb amount of money, not for me and you. I’m sure you’ll be able to buy a ‘regular’ version of the statue for a reasonable price in the near future.

December 29, 2016 at 10:37 pmDescribes Kojima perfectly, to be honest.
Overpriced, over-produced, but only looks good while viewing from afar.

December 29, 2016 at 11:06 pmAt least its a decent bit of Merc for the price, people pay thousands for lunch with a developer or a game asset on KS. Good collectors piece for anyone who loves Yoji Shinkawa or Kojima.

December 30, 2016 at 8:14 amJust a random observation, but without the flag the figure itself is probably 43 inches tall. I’d also guess 40 in. without the base as well.

January 3, 2017 at 11:43 amLudens looks rad and I’m kind of sad he’s (seemingly) just a “logo” and not part of an actual game, I wanted to see him in Death Stranding.
