Hideo Kojima Shows off Decima Engine in Stunning New Renders

After announcing his collaboration with Guerrilla Games on the Decima engine for both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima has shown off more of what the engine can do in images of renders he posted to his twitter.

The first set of images shows off the engine’s realistic lighting by recreating Kojima Production’s meeting room. You can see these images (along with a better look at Gulliermo Del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen’s models) here:

The developer also showed off the lighting by comparing scenes from Death Stranding’s Game Awards trailer with and without texture:

Kojima ended the images with a look at Mads Mikkelsen’s model without any texture, which you can see above.

He also used some interesting metaphors to describe Decima, saying:

The space development competition has been stagnated after the Cold War. Due to the steep rise in price of space development cost, the investment for the earth has been strengthened and they gave up on the space shuttle program. Meanwhile I who wants to proceed myself to the moon, met the guerrilla whose plan was to go to the mars. We decided to make the rocket by reforming their engine. And by doing so it enables us to go to the mars but even to the jupiter.

Decima will first be used next year in Horizon: Zero Dawn, and then be used in Death Stranding when in launches in 2018.

Sounds to me like he’s dropping hints about the plot.

OK, Hideo, you have got a great engine. Just make sure when you are next at a gaming conference you show gameplay rather than a trailer with some cryptic nonsense.

    I agree.
But honestly I wouldn’t mind another cryptic nonsense trailer that reveals a new star cause the last one was pretty cool.
