Following yesterday’s announcement that Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima has left Konami and entered final negotiations with Sony, we’ve learned the boss and his new adventure has developed even further.
Both the newly formed (and independent) Kojima Productions and Sony Computer Entertainment have reached an agreement to develop the studio’s first game as a console exclusive, on PlayStation 4 (Editor’s Note: it’s coming to PC after PlayStation 4, although details are currently scant).
Featured above, you can view a video with both Hideo Kojima and Sony’s Andrew House talking up the new partnership. The company even has a new logo:
“I will be taking on a new challenge by establishing my own independent studio, and I am thrilled to be able to embark on this journey with PlayStation, who I have continued to work with all these past years,” said Hideo Kojima in a press release. “I cannot wait to deliver, with PlayStation, a game that will become a compelling franchise.”
“PlayStation(R)’s history is one of game innovation and great new franchises,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “Hideo Kojima has been a huge part of that history, and we are therefore delighted that he has chosen to bring his brand new project to life in partnership with PlayStation. We look forward to working with him on an exciting new game and warmly welcome him to the PlayStation family.”

December 16, 2015 at 7:59 amCoolest logo I’ve seen in a while, and surprised at Sony seemingly publishing what will no doubt be a AAA-budget title on PC as well now.

December 16, 2015 at 8:05 amSony is directly financing the project, so it’ll stay pretty much an exclusive.
That’s like begging for Nintendo to release its own first-party games on other systems.

December 16, 2015 at 8:13 amStill glad about Kojima even if his next game is console exclusive. Who knows, maybe it’ll convince me to get a PS4.

December 16, 2015 at 9:06 amThanks Sony for funding what is sure to be another great game on PC. :^)
I mean it’s Kojima so it’ll be great no matter the platform (story/content wise), but since it’s coming to PC regardless of the wait, I won’t settle for less (graphics/features wise).

December 16, 2015 at 9:39 amWhen Konami was asked about this, they had this to say:
“Don’t worry guys, Kojima is on vacation at Sony beach, he’ll be back”
Next up on Denial Today, we asked Donald Trump if he is a aware he has a dead possum on his head.

December 16, 2015 at 11:08 amHeh, can’t blame you since there’s no precedent set for this outside of smaller budget stuff like Helldivers and Rapture… and those are only a recent thing at that, too.
It’s a brave new world, where old rules don’t apply all the time anymore.
