Hideki Kamiya Up for Remaking Devil May Cry or Viewtiful Joe, a Bayonetta+Devil May Cry Title, or an Okami Sequel

The latest Dengeki (via ryokutya2089) has a multitude of interviews with many famous and talented Japanese creators, but fan-favorite Hideki Kamiya’s interview takes the cake in the sheer potential of game teases contained within.

In the interview Kamiya noted that he’s interested in remaking Devil May Cry, or Viewtiful Joe, despite blocking thousands if not hundreds of thousands of users on Twitter for asking the very same question.

He said that he wants to take on the hardships of remaking both games so that he can see how to remake them with his own talents.

Kamiya also said he’s down for making sequels to Okami or Viewtiful Joe, games that would continue the previous titles’ stories.

Finally, he teased a potential crossover for the ages – a game featuring Dante from Devil May Cry and the titular witch, Bayonetta. He joked saying that if Capcom doesn’t mind a guy like him, he’s open to collaborating anytime.

Would you like to see a Devil May Cry and Bayonetta crossover game? How about sequels to Okami or Viewtiful Joe? Or even remakes for Devil May Cry, or Viewtiful Joe?! Sound off in the comments below!

Either the Bayonetta x Devil May Cry crossover or an Okami sequel. Nobody needs any of those remakes. Just buy the games or download them.

DMC and Bayonetta would make for an amazing crossover. I’m not against the idea of Capcom giving a couple of IPs to Platinum to work on. In fact this may be for the better, but I doubt it will happen.

Another reason why I think those DMC5+SC6 rumors are bull. Those IPs are dormant.

DMC/Dante is pure cancer, but I’ll definitely take a new Okami.

Which Dante would be in a Bayo crossover? Cool 3/4 Dante or emo shit stain Dante?

Devil May Cry isn’t all that dormant; the fact they put out a new version for DMC4 and added new content shows there is a chance for new plans. Soul Calibur only went down from SC5 having an almost entirely new roster and maybe one other thing but not one really cared for it which will only last so long since everyone senses Capcoms weakness and will be fighting for top dog.

Bayonetta and Dante, two of my favorite characters in one game?! I want that to exist so bad.

Oh , who am I kidding? I want all of this~

DMC4SE was a great remaster and the new content was great, I’m not sure how well it sold and whether that was the determining factor in reviving the IP. People in the game industry usually know from colleagues, co-workers, freelancers etc what games are in development, so Kamiya saying he’s willing to remake DMC kind of tells me there isn’t going to be a DMC remake at PSX. I’ll be happy if I’m wrong.

With the exception of Tekken, 3d fighters especially the “block button” 3DFGs kind of took a backseat in the past 10 years. Even the rise of esports didn’t help SC5’s popularity.
If it comes back, I hope the series returns to 1-2-3AC style. The emphasis on create-a -oul and armor damage attracted a community more drawn to fanservice than competitive play. And the character designs changed to generic JRPG crap instead of the grounded “old world” look of SE+SC1+2.

They should give them Onimusha. That’s one IP that would fit Platinum like a glove.

The guy that doesn’t do sequels wants to make a sequel? I’ll believe it when i see it. I’d rather he’d continue his winning streak of unique IPs but i think Scalebound left a bad taste in his mouth.

It will be pretty ironic if they did, considering they formed Platinum to get away from Capcom.

It amazes me how no one else has noticed that that in each of the first three games Dante behaves completely differently.

He does it on the regular on Twitter, I’m sure I’ve seen years of him doing it but am glad that he is fond of his old home and franchises enough that he may have a new game in him even if Capcom don’t.

PlatinumGames are the 2000s version of Inti Creates, that is also a studio of ex-Capcom staff who ended up working with Capcom on many projects (as well as Concept) which makes me wonder when Inafune is going to ask for Megaman back from Capcom. At least, Kamiya left when all announced projects were finished, Inafune left Megaman Legends 3 and I don’t want to blame him for the project being canned but feel that if he was still there that it could have continued.

DMC1 Dante is ultimately the same person (calling bosses silly names, messing around in fights, being stabbed and shrugging it off) but more grounded while also having some inconsistent writing due to the development process (he doesn’t carry that bravado in every cutscene).

I really enjoy Platinum’s games in general. Most of the stuff Platinum does is really good and/or stylish. There is probably only one big stinker (Star Fox Zero), and I blame Nintendo/Shigeru for the forced control scheme ruining that game. Game still looked cool though, and ran smooth

Anywho the article is about Hideki Kamiya who was a part of Capcom (director RE2, the original DMC), Clover (director of Okami, writer for Viewtiful Joe series), and now Platinum Games (director & writer for Bayo 1 & Wonderful 101, writer for Bayo 2)

I always mixed them both. The fact they both have six letter names doesn’t help either. Also, it was developed under Clover Studio.
I actually though Viewtiful Joe was Kamiya as well.

I haven’t gotten around to playing Nier Automata yet, right now is damn near impossible to find a copy in my country, it’s sold out everywhere.

I had no idea they had such a legendary staff, damn, I can only hope great things for Project Re:Link, the visuals already look amazing can’t wait to see how they’ll handle the rest, I’m really hoping for a open world game.

Those creeps are easy cash to coax more games though they may be the reason behind that finisher bullshit in SCIV. Either way the creeps will be the least of your problems if they make a new one since I figure they’re gonna put a ton of anime DLC in it which will only be good for making a composite Shonen anime character to rival the shout of Black Bolt.
