Bakumatsu Rock is an upcoming PSP game by Senran Kagura developer Marvelous AQL – it’s basically the male version of Hatsune Miku.
The rhythm game is set in feudal Japan where you play as Ryoma Sakamoto, although it’s unclear whether you play as the historical Ryoma Sakamoto in this game.
Either way, the story involves the Shinsengumi (Edo era police) brainwashing people using “Heaven’s Song.” In order to fight their control, you have to tap notes in rhythm, just like Hatsune Miku. The story mode in Bakumatsu Rock is told via comic book like frames.
You can check out some more screens from the game below:
Now that I think about it, I realize you literally are playing as the rock star version of the historical Ryoma Sakamoto. Oh Japan, please never change.
Bakumatsu Rock is coming to PSP in Japan on February 27th.
