Everyone knows YOLO (I am sorry I said that), but with every decision you make there is a consequence. Hero Generations is a game that is built around that concept and a legacy that lasts multiple lifetimes.
Hero Generations is a game being created by Scott Brodie, founder of Heart Shaped Games. The game was a finalist in 2011 IndieCade that Brodie is now reviving for PC, Mac, Linux, and OUYA.
The game has simple mechanics, you point and click from one square to another. Each time you move your character it makes a life decision such as where to live or which woman you want to “woo”. Also each move takes a year from your life.
Going through the game, a move is very important because it builds your characters legacy. You can stay home, build a family, and play it safe or maybe venture out and try to seek fame and fortune.
As time goes on you can get married and have a child. After you become old, the life expectancy is anywhere from 50 to 125, you eventually die and take control of your child who will be the next hero you control.
Character aging
The new hero has traits passed down from the characters you played before him and the spouses you decided to take.
This is why it is important to always make the right decisions because you could play the game for five minutes with just one character, or create a legacy that lasts thousands of years.
Family tree
Every 100 years a world changing event happens. The events could be a giant volcano or a herd of huge monsters that will destroy everything you have built. You will have to try to quickly adapt to keep your legacy alive.
Hero Generations is a totally in-depth game involving life, family, legacy, and inevitably death. This effects everyone in real life terms. Though the mechanics may be simple it will truly be an inspirational strategy game.
