I don’t understand why they insist on rehashing the progenitor a dozen times over when they’d be better served by releasing PC ports of the newer, more refined titles. Anyone with any interest in Disgaea already played at least one version over the last 10 years and likely moved on to the sequels.

I ‘never’ heard of it before and I’ll be playing this. ^^

Maybe they’ll just bring all of them to Steam.
It’s great to be able to play every game of a franchise on your platform of choice and it’s better to keep the release order, old doesn’t mean bad. ^^

    – Direct sequel to this one is just the D2 one, right?

Yeah dood! Looks like they did some nice improvements and Steam integration, but I don’t want to get sucked into playing the old one again. It’s great for people who like SRPGs but missed it though.

Remember this is NISA, so don’t be surprised if your computer suddenly implodes into itself.

I’ve never touched a NIS game, so this should be a good introduction, even if it’s somewhat dated.

“Anyone with any interest in Disgaea already played at least one version”Yeah. I played Disgaea 4 and the vampire fish loving guy was too much. So now I want to try the original because the characters and story for that seem much better.

For what it’s worth the original localization was done by Atlus since NISA didn’t exist back then. Who knows what changes NISA could make with this new version.

I never played any Disgaea game so this will be my first one. Ironically it being the first one.

Still hard to believe this is happening.

Yes, I know, NISA sucks etc etc.

But it’s Disgaea on PC come on.
    It’s happening, it’s really happening.

So what about everybody else? After all, we’re talking about a pretty niche series, one where 500,000 copies is considered “good” sales.

There are a lot of people who have never heard of or at least never played Disgaea, and the first one would be a good jumping on point, especially since D2 is a direct sequel and the original cast also makes a few cameo appearances in other games.

I’m actually happy to see this on the PC as well. Its a great and fun SJRPG and hopefully it leads to getting Makai on the PC as well since I never played that.

Still need to finish the NA DS version but I appreciate a step towards making the best versions of their games more avaliable even if it doesn’t have all of the bonuses that the DS had.

I gather they changed some stuff in later Disgaea localisations?

yeah, speaking of which, since we can’t just emulate old NIS titles, I want MAKAI KINGDOM, not DISGAEA REMAKE NUMBER 40
