Jigoku Sensei Nube new anime

Takeshi Okano and Sho Makura’s Hell Teacher Nube (Jigoku Sensei Nube) manga will get a new anime, news announced via publisher Shueisha.

The new Jigoku Sensei Nube anime adaptation has an official English title of Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube, and it will premiere sometime next year.

The new anime’s official website has both Makura and Okano sharing their excitement for the new development.

“I am thrilled that we are getting a new anime adaptation in this Reiwa (modern) era,” original manga author Sho Makura said. “With the changing times and advancements in digital animation, the setting has been updated, and the students of Class 5-3 have been given a modern update. Please look forward to a completely new look while retaining all the charm of Nube.”

Original manga artist Takeshi Okano added, “The anime adaptation is finally happening! BANZAI! I can finally share the news! This project has been in the works for years, and it was tough keeping it a secret. But now, I can shout it out loud! I’m so happy! Yay! I can’t wait!”

Here’s a teaser trailer for the new anime:

Makura and Okano serialized Hell Teacher Nube from 1993 to 1999 in Shonen Jump magazine, with 29 million copies sold and 20 volumes published. An anime was aired in 1996, along with an OVA and three films. A live action adaptation was also aired in 2014, along with a new one-shot chapter of the manga.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning Hell Teacher Nube will get a new one-shot manga in the September issue of Saikyo Jump by August 2, published by Shueisha.
