Hayao Miyazaki’s “last” animated film How Do You Live? is set to hit Japanese theaters next week.
Surprisingly, we still don’t know what to expect outside of how it features an original plot based off the 1937 story of the same name by author Yoshino Genzaburo.
Miyazaki and Ghibli decided not to accompany the film’s release with any sort of ad campaign or publicity, instead the creator’s reputation has done most of the heavy lifting when it comes to marketing.
How do You Live? is expected to be Miyazaki’s “swan song” and his last film before he retires (for real this time).
Hayao Miyazaki has become a global phenomenon thanks to his work at Studio Ghibli and his whimsical artistry in films like My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Whispers of the Heart.
