Hawken is Coming to Steam

Hawken is an ambitious multiplayer mecha combat game that was developed by a small team at Adhesive Games. Since its open beta release, the game has been hosted on private servers and sold through the developer’s website. That’s going to change very soon, according to the game’s blog.

Hawken is transitioning all of its servers and launcher onto Valve’s Steam platform alongside Adhesive helping players make the transition by the game’s February update. Invitations to download the game through Steam already went out yesterday, lots more will follow in waves throughout this week. New account creation has been suspending until the game’s February update is out as well, unfortunately.

Once this move is complete, Hawken will only be accessible through Steam and its existing players will need a Steam account in order to play the game. You’ll still have to redownload and install the game within the Steam client, this will also allow you to take advantage of new features like Steam Wallet integration.

Adhesive Games put out a Steam Transition Guide and FAQ to help existing Hawken players make the jump. Hawken has been in open beta since late 2012, but it is set for a full launch later this year.
