Hatsune Miku is making a collaborative debut in the popular mobile game Blue Archive this week.
Blue Archive is a tactical gacha game which released in English last year. Players take on the role of a faceless “Sensei” who runs an inter-collegiate club to solve problems in academy-city of Kivotos.
Hatsune Miku will be the game’s first collaborative character and will join the frontline on players’ teams with her dancing abilities (and a grenade launcher). Her ultimate ability will be an AoE heal and damage buff around her, which is fitting for a support character.

While English fans won’t be able to get Miku until later this week, she came out in Japan late last year. You can check out her release trailer here.
Like all new character releases, Hatsune Miku will be able to be pulled through normal gacha pulls. However throughout the event, players can spend 200 tickets from pulls in order to automatically get her, a mechanic commonly referred to as as a “Pity System” in gacha games to compensate for bad luck.
Blue Archive began releasing in the west back in November and was the subject of criticism for the censoring of a CG during their first character event in December.
Nexon apologized afterwards, explaining that it wasn’t their decision and was due to external requests they had “no choice” but to respond to.
