While Hatoful Boyfriend has been available on PC, Devolver Digital has announced that Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star, the prequel to the original, is coming this fall.
The game will be launching across PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC. Fans translated the 2011 game back in 2012, only to now see the game receive an official localization. “While we would have loved to create an all-new franchise with our friends at Mediatonic, investing $350,000 in bird motion capture gear limits our options,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker.
Fans will be able to step into the role of Anghel Higure, one of the original game’s love interests, who has the ability to physically manifest things into the real world, via his psychic powers. Unlike the original game, Holiday Star is a kinetic visual novel, meaning there are no choices to be made, or fail conditions that players can run into.
The Playstation 4 and PS Vita ports for Hatoful Boyfriend are still en route this summer, according to Devolver Digital.
