Stardew Valley is a Harvest Moon-inspired game that is clearly more of a nod back to the series’ roots.

The game has been in development for several years, but this is mostly due to it all being developed by one indie developer, a person who goes by the alias of ConcernedApe. The game was picked up by indie publisher Chucklefish, which are now aiding in the game hopefully getting finished sooner. Featured above, you can view the latest trailer for the game, and it’s definitely getting a good polish.

Stardew Valley has a lot in common with the iconic and long-running (well, no longer in name anyway) series, except for one major addition—it enables up to four-player cooperative play. The main goal of the game is to gather resources, crops, and of course income to grow your farm.

The game also features a robust village filled with over 30 characters, all of which have their own personalities, daily lives, and occupations. As you enlarge your farm with more space for animals, crops, and buildings, you’ll also have the option of marrying a bachelor or bachelorette from the town.

You can even go spelunking in the local cave (which is entirely randomly generated) in search of various gemstones or minerals. You’ll also have to battle monsters in order to get those more precious materials. There are other recreational activities to take up including cooking, fishing, crafting, archaeology, and decorating your home.

A release date for Stardew Valley isn’t confirmed yet, so for now you’ll have to make do with ogling the game’s official website.
