Haru Urara, the real racehorse which inspired the character of the same name from Uma Musume Pretty Derby has passed away at the age of 29.
For those who don’t know, Uma Musume is a horse-racing gacha game where players train horse girls who are based off of real race horses. Haru Urara became popular due to the character’s cheerful and ditzy optimism and her cute design. More than that, she became a sort of meme because the real Haru Urara went her entire career without winning a single race. This trait was reflected in the game character’s optimism even when she lost.
Haru’s passing was announced on the official Uma Musume X (formerly Twitter) account.
