Defiant Development have announced that their tabletop, roguelike, deck building RPG, Hand of Fate, is coming to both Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita.
The game has an interesting blend of card gaming and video game magic, according to associate producer Kim Allom. The game is inspired by both tarot cards and typical fantasy tropes, and it puts players into the role of building a powerful collection of cards that are used to strategically win the tabletop game itself.
Cards will come to life in full 3D environments, and those environments will actually be embracing a roguelike nature, meaning that there will be a seemingly endless amount of combinations of both playfields and cards that you can draw. The deck builder will let you choose a mix of chance, combat, and equipment cards for your deck, before you head on out for a quest.
The equipment selection in the game is definitely a bit staggering, as it becomes incredibly deep and further adds to the game’s replayability as the player discovers lots of new weapons, artifacts, and armor that can even further change up the stakes in a match. Ultimately, the player has the total freedom to choose which cards they want, but the rate at which the cards are given out is up to The Dealer.
