“Hamlet” Expansion for Don’t Starve Hits Early Access

Klei Entertainment’s popular survival game Don’t Starve has just received a new expansion via Steam Early Access.

The Hamlet expansion focuses on a new region with a city full of pigmen. Players will be able to barter with the pigmen and buy and furnish their own house within the city. The nearby jungle is full of decrepit ruins from an ancient pig civilization, complete with new enemies, traps, and items to discover.

The expansion won’t be in Early Access for long, either. It’s almost done, and will be receiving a full release on December 6th. Klei just wanted some last minute feedback before pushing through the final version. You can check out a trailer above.

This new expansion coincides with a content update for Don’t Starve Together, which you can read about here. Klei is also running a big weekend sale on all their games.

Here’s a rundown of the new expansion:

In Don’t Starve: Hamlet, Wilson discovers a lost town of aristocratic Pigmen nestled within a foreboding tropical jungle.

Can you readjust to society as an outsider? Can you earn fame and riches recovering lost relics? Will you weather the Aporkalypse?

Key Features:

  • Reacquaint to city life: Visit shops and trade with the pig society. Purchase and renovate your own home.
  • Delve into ancient ruins: Explore the lost world of an ancient pig civilization filled with traps and try your hand at treasure hunting.
  • Explore new lands: Discover the secrets of new wild life and seasons.
  • Craft and experiment with new items: Find new ingredients and recipes to solve new problems.

Early Access

Don’t Starve: Hamlet is not quite done. We have some items and balancing we want to finish before Early Access lifts in December. But there is still much to explore in the world and if you are the kind of person who is not afraid to stumble into an unfinished area, or use an unfinished feature, we would also love to hear any feedback you have about Hamlet on our forums.

Don’t Starve: Hamlet will cost you $6.99. You can find the base game on Windows PC, Mac, Linux (all via Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store), PS4, Vita, iOS, Android, Wii U, Switch, and Xbox One for $14.99.
