nDreams is a developer that many primarily associate with various content on PlayStation Home. Now that PlayStation Home is shutting down, nDreams is moving on to build standalone games.
Gunner is a new game from nDreams, and it’s developed exclusively for the Gear VR, Samsung’s new virtual reality headset. Despite the game being exclusive to the device, it’s being published by Oculus VR.
Patrick, the CEO of nDreams, said “Gunner is an amazing new experience that anyone can enjoy, it delivers immersive gameplay only made possible by the power of virtual reality”. He added, “We have been working very closely with the Oculus VR team for some time, so to have them co-publish our first title was an amazing opportunity and we are very much looking forward to growing our relationship”
Featured above, you can view a new trailer for the game, which it’s worth mentioning is played entirely hands free. To shoot down the enemy spacecraft you have to simply looking at them, as the Gear VR features headtracking like most other virtual reality headsets.
The game features multiple gameplay modes that are scattered across a bunch of different planets. The story takes place after the Traitors’ Day in the year 2167, in which you play as Hel, a Gunner with ample amounts of brawn. It kind of reminds me of the tongue-in-cheek portrayal of the military as seen in Starship Troopers.
Gunner is going to launch with Gear VR sometime next month in the United States.
