VTuber Gundo Mirei is graduating according to producer Nijisanji who manages Mirei’s character.

Back in March, Mirei was suspended following a series of tweets where she comedically made inane comment about baseball. These comments such as: “Wouldn’t it be better if they all hit homeruns to make cleanup easier” drew criticism from sports fans who saw it as disrespectful.

According to a statement from Nijisanji, the graduation was the result of “mutual agreement“. Speculatively, Mirei probably wouldn’t want to continue with a company who punished her for such jokes.

She will be hosting a graduation stream on June 21 at 11pm JST. Her socials will be shut down the following day on the 22, and her merchandise will also be removed from sale at the same time.

At the time of writing, it’s unclear if Mirei’s actress will adopt a new VTuber model and continue her work (a process referred to as “reincarnation” in order to preserve kayfabe).
