Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2 Launches May 25 in Japan

This week’s Famitsu has confirmed the Japanese release date for Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2.

The latest update for the Arc System Works-made fighting game will launch on May 25th PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 in Japan.

The enhanced version of the latest in their fighting game franchise brings with it new story content, characters, balancing, and more. There’s a physical release planned alongside its digital release. If you already own  Guilty Gear Xrdthe new update will be available as a digital upgrade.

Here are the key features coming in the enhanced version:

  • Upgrades, Lots of Upgrades
    Two new characters, Baiken and Answer enter the battle! New stages, moves and motions are just the beginning of new content to explore!
  • Legends of Rock
    Expanded story and arcade modes shed new light on Jam, Kum, Raven, Dizzy, Answer and Baiken!
  • Balance is the Key
    A complete re-balancing of each fighter means that everything old is new again! Explore different fighting techniques with your favorite characters or start fresh with new brawlers!

A North American and European release is also confirmed for sometime this year.

    I think I’ll just get the digital upgrade. I have Revelator already, but I didn’t finish the story lol. Less than 50% completed. xD

    The individual episodes sound interesting. I’m curious about the upgrade price (and whether it will be
    possible with a physical version) – I’m not willing to buy another
    yearly release for such a small update.

    First story modes where nothing but fights bit little bits of dialogue sprinkled in.
    Blazblue started with VN styled bits with some battles thrown in.
    Last game had no battles whatsoever.

    Guilty Gear Xrd story mode it’s basically an anime made with in game assets.
