[UPDATE 2]

Actor Norman Reedus, whose likeness was featured prominently in the playable teaser for Silent Hills, has spoken out regarding the game’s status.

“Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone,” said Reedus on his personal Twitter.

While his statement didn’t say the game was cancelled, his tweet linked to a Walking Dead fansite that reported on the game being supposedly cancelled.

[UPDATE 1]

We’ve learned that Silent Hills may not be cancelled after all, rather that Guillermo del Toro’s statement was in regards to his collaboration with Hideo Kojima on the game.

A source (via IGN) has said that if fans want an update on the status of Silent Hills, they would “have to go after Konami for those answers.” They also reiterated that del Toro was only talking about his working alongside Kojima on the game.

This also doesn’t clear up the question of whether or not Kojima is still working on the game – considering the rumors swirling his employment at Konami once Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has shipped.

[ORIGINAL STORY]

It seems like there’s more trouble brewing at Konami, if the words of Silent Hills co-director Guillermo del Toro are to believe.

The news comes from a talk with the famed director speaking at this year’s San Francisco Film Festival (via reporter Matt Hackney). After being asked for the status of Silent Hills, del Toro responded:

“It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart”

While his response comes off as somewhat tongue-in-cheek, it raises concerns after the troubling developments at Konami and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. If you haven’t been following Silent Hills, the game is co-directed by Kojima as well.

Finally, it’s also worth mentioning that Konami announced they would be removing the playable teaser for Silent Hills from the Playstation 4 store, on April 29th. Is Konami quietly shutting down the PS4-exclusive Silent Hills?

File this as a rumor for now but – we’ll keep you guys posted.
