If you tuned into last night’s The Game Awards, you got treated to a strange and visually dynamic trailer for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming PC and PlayStation 4 game, Death Stranding. Prior to this reveal, host Geoff Keighley adamantly praised Kojima, and even made a blunt jab at Konami’s treatment of the developer.

A former Hideo Kojima collaborator, Guillermo del Toro, also voiced his dislike of Konami last night, via a pretty flattering Tweet:

“FUCK KONAMI,” del Toro wrote on Twitter. He followed up by clarifying his remark, saying “Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I’ve ever witnessed.”

If you haven’t been following the epic fallout with Konami, Kojima, and del Toro, you could say the company quietly cancelling the two creator’s Silent Hills project was the final straw that broke the camel’s back. A few months later, Kojima officially left Konami and reformed a new Kojima Productions studio.

The new Death Stranding trailer revealed last night saw Guillermo del Toro as an entirely new character – leading to many speculating how truly involved he is with the game.

Death Stranding is currently in development for PC and PlayStation 4.
