UPDATE: All funding, stretch or otherwise, has been completed.
This means the Grisaia trilogy and Ido Magical Girl Chiruchiru Michiru will be localized for the West, and ported to the Unity engine, which means they will be available for Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Plans to bring the localizations to the Vita need to go through Sony first, so Sekai Project are trying to organize that now. Maybe there will be word on this by the end of the kickstarter?
That was quick. Earlier today, the Grisaia trilogy of visual novels went up on Kickstarter. The goal of the funding is to get them localized for Western PC audiences. Of the $160,000 that Sekai Project need, they’ve managed to raise $230,000 and counting, in a little over half a day.
The Western port will be of the Vita versions of the game, which are a little different than the original, 18+ PC release. However, Sekai Project does underscore on their Kickstarter page that the Playstation Vita versions of these games still “received a CERO D rating in Japan, which is the equivalent of an ESRB ‘M for Mature’ rating”, so it’s not like they were completely neutered.
The project has received so much backing so quickly that it has almost completed its second stretch goal already. The first stretch goal, to get “the whimsical spin-off game” of Ido Magical Girl Chiruchiru Michiru ported has already been reached, and the goal to port the Grisaia series not only to PC but also Linux, Mac, and PS Vita needs just $10,000 more.
The Grisaia Trilogy consists of The Fruit of Grisaia, The Labyrinth of Grisaia, and The Eden of Grisaia.
