Microids have announced a video game based on classic super robot anime Grendizer is in development.
As stated in the press release (via email), the new Grendizer video game is coming to Windows PC and unspecified consoles. The action game will take fans back in time to relive the adventures of the Prince Duke Fleed and his powerful combat robot.
The original 1975 manga was written by Go Nagai, running until 1977 alongside an anime series (known as Force Five: Grandizer in the US, Goldorak in France, and Goldrake in Italy). It told the story of alien prince Duke Fleed crash landing in Japan, keeping his peoples’ giant robot out of the hands of the invading Vega empire. Aided by an earth scientist, the prince uses Grendizer to defend earth.
“We are delighted about this new partnership with Dynamic Planning,” said Microids CEO Stéphane Longeard. “Through the development of this title, Microids wishes to offer a video game aimed to please the fans of the franchise. All the teams at Microids are working hard to ensure the game will showcase the highest fidelity. We are really proud and excited to show you more in the future.”
Go Nagai, creator of UFO Robo Grendizer added, “Reliving the adventures of Grendizer with the help of today’s technology is a dream come true. I am very happy with the signing of this publishing partnership and I can’t wait to put my hands on the video game.”
