Gotham Knights has a map larger than any other Arkham Game

Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights is the latest Batman-themed game in the Arkham series, however this time players can fight crime with friends in co-op or in single player in a world bigger than ever.

A new key piece of information about the world design for the game confirms their version of Gotham is the biggest yet.

“It’s pretty big. I haven’t put one map over the other, but our Gotham is a big place. I tend to spend a lot of my Zoom calls on the Batcycle driving around Gotham. It is one of the fastest and most chill ways to move around the city. It feels like a big place,” Gotham Knights game director Geoff Ellenor said to Game Informer.

Senior producer Fleur Marty revealed: “For sure it’s the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games. The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers. The Batcycle is the long-range mode of transportation.”

Prior to this Batman: Arkham Knight had the largest city in the franchise, spanning five square kilometers across multiple islands representing different districts. This was designed that way to allow players to meaningfully drive around Gotham in the Batmobile.

However, in Gotham Knights players can now fly around the map as well as travel by Batcycle. I’m curious about how these new methods of transportation will affect the gameplay flow of the Batman Arkham games that many gamers have come to enjoy.
