We’ve gotten a more in-depth look at the mecha designs from Monolith Soft’s upcoming Wii U exclusive, Xenoblade Chronicles X.
The artwork (shown above as well as below) comes via an update on the game’s official website, where artist Takayuki Yanase shows off his wares. Yanase is known for his work in both Metal Gear Rising, as well as Ghost in the Shell: Arise.
The four illustrations shown above are the rough pieces that led up to the final illustration, which you can see at the top of the article. The production at Monolith Soft asked Yanase to create a piece that focused on the Dolls (what the mecha are called in game).
Below, individual pieces were done for each of the dolls that you’ll find in game. Yanase is also known for his work in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime, creating the designs for both the Mobile Suits and Gundams.
Yanase has worked on other games that predominantly feature mecha, like the Armored Core and Super Robot Taisen series.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is coming to Japan on April 29th, with a western release coming some time later this year.
