Google has confirmed they’re shutting down their YouTube Gaming app and service this week.

The company’s answer to Twitch is shutting down on May 30th, with the standalone YouTube Gaming app and the gaming.youtube.com website both shutting down.

YouTube serves over 50 billion hours of gaming videos and content per year, however people aren’t really watching them through the gaming-specific platform and app. Google launched YouTube Gaming almost four years ago as a response to Amazon snatching up Twitch.

Once they’re gone, YouTube Gaming users should visit the YouTube Gaming hub page instead, which offers a similar experience, meaning the browser option is being redirected at least.
