According to some leaked documents obtained by The Verge, it seems that Google is putting in their bid to take over the living room as well, following Amazon’s reveal of their own box, the Fire TV. Reportedly called Android TV, the device will function similarly to the Apple TV, and the aforementioned Fire TV.
In the source article, the documents provided have revealed several developers that have been contacted by Google to design apps and games exclusively for the platform. You can even get a glimpse at some of the planned games like Temple Run, Plants vs Zombies 2, and Triple Town, however it’s not clear if these are legitimate games in development, or just examples.
Android TV will also perform and function like other set-top boxes, meaning you’ll be able to stream content from various media providers like Netflix, Hulu, and so on. The device will come with a standard remote, but it will also support an optional game controller. Voice input commands and on screen notifications will also be available to developers, although Google is apparently recommending that devs use notifications sparingly.
