GoldenEye 007 Xbox achievements have been published and discovered by TrueAchievements, leading us to believe a re-release is imminent.
The new GoldenEye 007 Xbox achievements bring in a whopping 55 achievements and a cumulative potential 1000 Gamerscore, further suggesting this is a legitimate remaster of some kind.
It’s also worth pointing out the in-game screenshots from the achievements also depict what looks like the original GoldenEye 007, but remastered. This confirms the potential release is not a remake of some kind like 2010-released Activision, which many fans of the original did not receive well.
The original GoldenEye 007 was released for the Nintendo 64 back in August 1997, and was published by Nintendo with Rare developing the game. While the game hasn’t been re-released since, Microsoft acquired Rare in 2002, and the license has been in limbo, until now it seems.
An Xbox Live Arcade remake was apparently in development at some point, which also had a separate achievement list leaked but the game has been confirmed to have been cancelled.
Lastly, it’s also worth mentioning 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the original GoldenEye 007, which is likely why an official remaster by the original developer Rare is now seemingly happening.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
