God of War 2018 Sequel Announced, Launches 2021

Santa Monica Studio have announced a sequel to God of War (2018) during the PlayStation 5 showcase.

Details are incredibly scant at this time, with only a logo and the tagline “Ragnarok is coming” to go off of. The game will launch in 2021, likely for PlayStation 5.

We are tempted to say the next game will be called God of War: Ragnarok, but this is far from confirmed. The official PlayStation Blog only refers to the title as “New God of War title.” The trailer has not even been uploaded to PlayStation’s official YouTube channel at this time of writing, robbing us of even information from the video description.

For those unfamiliar, God of War (2018) saw Kratos now living in ancient Norway. After cremating his wife, and an encounter with a belligerent but super-powered being, Kratos tries to honor the wishes of his deceased wife.

With his son Atreus in tow, he seeks to scatter his wife’s ashes from the highest mountain. This is while Norse gods and mythical beings try to stop him. The sequel (while avoiding spoilers) will likely see some of those gods seeking vengance.
