GKIDS acquires license to Hayao Miyazaki’s How Do You Live? renamed The Boy and The Heron

How Do You Live (The Boy and The Heron)

GKIDS, the anime distributor known for their North American releases of Studio Ghibli films has announced they’ll be bringing Hayao Miyazaki’s How Do You Live? to US theaters. The film will be retitled The Boy and The Heron in its English release.

Miyazaki’s How Do You Live? is expected to be the famed director’s last work and opened in Japanese theaters on July 14.

Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki are still playing things close to the vest and unsurprisingly, we still don’t know what to expect. All we know is it features an original plot based off the 1937 story of the same name by author Yoshino Genzaburo.

Though with the Japanese release out, there will be spoilers on social media. Due to Ghibli’s advertising blackout, we speculate that the movie might be best enjoyed going in blind. But that’s just us.
