The anime adaptation based on the mobile game Girls’ Frontline will premiere on January 7th.
Originally announced for release sometime this year, the project was ultimately rescheduled for a 2022 release.
Girls’ Frontline takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where wars are fought with combat androids called “tactical dolls” (shortened to T-Dolls). The world is largely uninhabitable by humanity thanks to a substance known as Collapse Fluid, thus necessitating the use of these dolls in warfare.
In the game, players take on the role of a manager with the private military contractor Grifon & Kryuger. The company has been hired to fight against a renegade AI called Sangvis Ferri, which has killed its human masters and taken over strategic locales on Earth.
