Super Stardust HD and Geometry Wars at one time were essentially the definitive arcade shooters on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, respectively. The caveat with each game, however, was that they were exclusive to each respective platform, meaning for us shmup fans, we’d have to own both consoles to play both insanely addictive experiences.
Now that we’ve caught wind of a brand new Geometry Wars game in the form of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, we’ve been left wondering just how the game would look and play in comparison to the previous entries to the addictive formula. Thanks to a new preview by GameSpark, we’ve gotten the first screenshots for the game, which reveal that is has made the leap to a full 3D playing field.
Lucid Games is developing the game under Activision’s new Sierra Entertainment brand, and they’re made up of former Bizarre Creations developers – news that is sure to excite any Geometry Wars fan. Geometry Wars 3 is coming with a single player campaign, as well as 50 different challenges, and 10 different battle modes.
Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is coming out sometime this holiday to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
