Geoff Keighley Is Paying For The Game Awards with His Own Money

VGAs

The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has confirmed that he is funding the event with his own capital. Through a number of events involving the VGAs and last year’s VGX, Geoff Keighley is trying to turn a new award show into a true gamer’s award show.

While what he’s actually going to do with “The Game Awards 2014” remains to be seen, it’s still rather impressive that he is essentially paying for the whole shebang himself. Perhaps he’s confident in the show’s success, or he is taking a dangerous leap of faith. Either way, it will be very interesting to see where this goes.

He did, however, say in an interview with Polygon that he felt that using a Kickstarter would be wrong, so he wanted to prove himself by fronting the cost this time on his own.

Hopefully everything will go well.
