MiHoYo have released a teaser and gameplay trailer for Hu Tao, the next character coming to their gacha action-RPG, Genshin Impact.
Hu Tao had been previously revealed, and was recently added to the closed beta servers. She is the game’s next 5-star character, and has been mentioned a few times in passing within the game’s lore. She is an energetic young prankster that is nevertheless a major figure within Liyue Harbor, as she is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

Hu Tao is a Polearm Pyro character. Her Elemental Skill consumes some of her HP to knock enemies away, and gives her a Pyro-infused damage boost. Meanwhile, her Elemental Burst is a large AoE attack that deals Pyro damage and restores her HP. The damage and HP restoration is increased if she is below 50% HP when the Elemental Burst is used. Hu Tao will be the star of the Moment of Bloom limited time Character Event Wish banner. The banner will also feature increased pull rates for the 4-star characters Chongyun, Xiangling, and Xingqiu. The banner will go live on March 3rd, and will replace the Dance of Lanterns banner that focused on Keqing.
This new banner will coincide with the second phase of update 1.3’s events. The new events players can look forward to include a character story quest focused on Hu Tao, a new set of Test Run trials for the characters featured in the new banner, and the Vishaps and Where to Find Them Expedition Event.
