HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact’s 2.7 update is indefinitely delayed.
On Twitter, Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse announced that will be postponed. As of this writing, no further information has been given to explain the reasons for this delay. Though given the current circumstances and the fact that it has been indefinitely delayed, it seems the reasoning is rather serious.
“Dear Travelers, Due to project progress, the Version 2.7 update will be postponed,” the developer said. “For detailed information on the date of the new update, content adjustment plan, and compensation, please stay tuned for upcoming announcements.”
They follow this post up with a statement saying that they will provide information to fans of the game as soon as possible. The statement was made along with an apology to those who would be disappointment to hear of this news.
This delay is coming off the back of continuing lockdowns in China due to another outbreak of coronavirus. The developers of Genshin Impact are located in the country and are doubtless affected by these events.
Challenges such as working from home are likely one of the major causes to this indefinite delay. Given it is currently unknown when these lockdowns will end also gives uncertainty for the company to foresee when regular schedule work will return.
Fans of the game expressed their disappointment in replies on the twitter post. Most of which also hope for the wellbeing and safety of the game developers during these trying times. As well as some hoping for compensation due to the update’s delay as if common in games of this nature.
Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store and official website), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our review here.
