New Genshin Impact teaser introduces Yelan, the stealthy water bow user

Genshin Impact

HoYoverse have released a new character teaser for Genshin Impact, introducing the game’s next 5-star character, Yelan.

Yelan claims to work for Liyue’s Ministry of Civil Affairs, but very few people have ever heard of her. She is a phantom in the shadows, appearing to deal with crises before swiftly disappearing yet again. Speculation is that she is actually a spy for some mysterious organization, but no one seems to know the truth.

You can find Yelan’s teaser trailer below.

Japanese version

In-game, Yelan is a 5-star Hydro bow DPS. She can rapidly move around the battlefield, marking enemies to deal bursts of Hydro damage to them. She will be the focus of the Discerner of Enigmas limited time character wish banner when update 2.7 releases next week. Alternatively, players can instead wish for Xiao, who will receive a rerun banner alongside Yelan.

As with most Genshin Impact updates, Yelan’s banner will be accompanied by an Epitome Invocation weapon banner introducing a new 5-star weapon. This new weapon is the Aqua Simulacra, and is Yelan’s signature weapon.

The banner for the second half of 2.7 is a rerun for the 5-star oni brawler, Arataki Itto. His banner will also mark the debut of Kuki Shinobu, a new 4-star character and fellow delinquent from the Arataki Gang.

Yelan, Xiao, Arataki Itto, Kuki Shinobu, and Yanfei will all assist players in a new story quest and limited time event. The quest will see players return to The Chasm, the new area that was added in 2.6, to uncover hidden secrets about Liyue’s past. One of the rewards for completing this quest chain is the Fading Twilight, a new 4-star bow that can only be acquired during 2.7.

Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store and official website), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, AndroidiOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our Genshin Impact review here (we recommend it!).
