Genshin Impact gets new dev diary showcasing the culture and factions of Sumeru

Genshin Impact

HoYoverse have released another new dev diary for Genshin Impact‘s upcoming Sumeru region.

Sumeru is the domain of the Dendro Archon, and will be the next massive new region being added to the popular gacha action-RPG. The people of Sumeru pride themselves on their wisdom and pursuit of knowledge. Wisdom is managed almost like a resource through the nation’s governing body, the Akademiya. Sumeru’s long quest for knowledge and its Gnosis-powered legacy have led to an interesting quirk: most people in Sumeru are incapable of having dreams, a fact that is usually spun by its citizens as proof of their rationality.

Sumeru’s rich soil and humid climate makes it the perfect place for the Shroom-Kin to thrive. These fungal creatures make up a large chunk of Sumeru’s wildlife, with some of the larger and more aggressive forms serving as new boss encounters.

Sumeru is also home to the Eremites, settlers from an ancient desert civilization. They claim to be related to the same mysterious civilization responsible for the many ruins guarded by strange automata in the deserts of Sumeru. The Eremites often sell their services as mercenaries throughout the region.

You can find the dev diary detailing more of Sumeru’s culture and characters below.

Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store and official website), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our Genshin Impact review here (we recommend it!).
