Genshin Impact reaches over $4 billion revenue

Genshin Impact continues its reign of domination when it comes to revenue earned, since its initial launch back in September 2020.

The anime-styled MMORPG has managed to reach over $4 billion worldwide (via data from Sensor Tower). Earlier this year, we reported that Genshin Impact reached over $3 billion back in May.

This means the game was able to generate roughly a billion in about 8 months. This rate is slightly slower than before, but still much greater than practically any other game on the market.

The numbers shown also break down the amounts from each region. China leads the way for the Chinese developed game with $1.4 billion (34.6%), followed by Japan with $960 million (23.2%), the US with $860 million (16.4%) and Korea with $250 million (6.1%).

HoYoVerse would certainly like the game to continue being this popular, given that it’s also one of the most expensive games ever developed.

Still, they also have plenty of other sources of revenues outside of the game, from the looks of it. After all, an anime series based on the game is being developed by ufotable.

Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store and official website), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our Genshin Impact review here (we recommend it!).
