HoYoVerse has announced a release date for the Genshin Impact 2.7 update, which had previously been delayed indefinitely.
The 2.7 update for Genshin Impact was originally set to release at the start of this month. However due to circumstances surrounding China, where developer HoYoVerse is situated in, the company had to delay the update. At the time, no future date was given on when there would be a release and things were left with an “indefinite” timetable.
Now the developers have revealed when Genshin Impact’s next update will be. HoYoVerse announced the dates for a special update program and the update itself. The special update program, which will livestream on Twitch, is set for May 20 5 AM PST/8 AM EST. An archive of the stream will be posted on their YouTube channel later on in the day. The update will then be released a week and a half later on May 31.
On their Twitter post for the 2.7 update release date, the developers also state that they expect this update to run through its cycle for six weeks. There HoYoVerse expect the following update, 2.8, will be released on July 13. This should be the case barring unforeseen events causing another delay.
This is certainly good news for fans of the game. Though due to the delay, they were given compensation in the form of in-game materials and Primogems, the latter of which is the game’s premium currency.
The company is also likely happy they will be able to release updates and content at steady pace once again. It had been recently reported that Genshin Impact had made over $3 billion in revenue after just a year and a half after the game’s initial launch.
Recently HoYoVerse also announced a new project with Zenless Zone Zero. That new game will developed by their new studio located in Canada, hence why this project didn’t suffer any known delays like Genshin Impact did.
What do you think of this news? Are you glad the wait for the update is not as long as some might’ve expected?
